I WILL: FIND MY MANTRA

Meditation can reduce stress, lower blood pressure and decrease risk factors with heart disease. But if you aren’t used to the idea of meditating, it can feel difficult to get a practice going. That’s why using a mantra, a simple word or phrase, can be a great way to get started. You don’t need any special equipment, just a quiet room and a comfortable place to sit. Close your eyes and slowly repeat your mantra, focusing on the way it sounds and feels. When other thoughts enter your mind, simply notice them and return to your mantra.

Start small: Choose a word or phrase - it can be traditional (“Om”) or meaningful to you (“Growing Stronger”). Repeat it for five minutes. Try it a few times per week.

Finish remarkable: Sign up for a mindfulness class and begin to refine your meditation practice.

Offered a few times each year, this 6-week series breaks down a variety of meditation practices to help you find what works best for you as well as insightful conversation around mindfulness - paying attention and cultivating an awareness of your thoughts, actions and motivations. Our next series registration is open and begins May 3rd - enough time to develop your mantra practice and be ready for growth!
