THE WAY WE LIVE

Heal it Forward

We believe that doing good makes people feel better. Research studies show that volunteering helps improve our self-esteem, social connectedness, and self-efficacy. Your choices matter when other people are counting on you. Volunteering also lowers our risk of heart disease, regardless of risk factors, socioeconomic level, gender, or age.

Basecamp creates opportunities for our community members to give back. Our Heal It Forward initiative is woven into several of our programs and special events as we help you reconsider the help in self-help.

Check out the ideas below and watch for announcements of opportunities to participate in a Heal it Forward event powered by Basecamp. We share announcements in our monthly newsletter, Basecamp Trail Guide, on this website, and through our social media.

We look forward to healing it forward with you and hearing about how you find ways to lend a helping hand for others within your community.

Dr. James Beckerman, medical director for heart programs, Providence Heart Institute, speaks about our Heal it Forward initiative during TEDx Peachtree.

How can you Heal It Forward?

Get inspired with ideas to connect within your community! Many can be done from home or you can choose to become a regular volunteer with an organization special to you.
