I WILL: Practice Relaxation

Your body can hold onto stress long after your mind has moved onto other things. As a result you may be carrying tension that can cause headaches, neck and back pain, and higher blood pressure, among other things. Progressive muscle relaxation is a simple technique for finding and releasing all that hidden tension. Begin by lying on your back with your eyes closed. Tense your toes for five seconds, then release them. Work your way up your body - tensing each muscle group for five seconds, then relaxing for 30 seconds - moving up toward your neck and head until you end with your face and eyes.

Start Small: Try progressive muscle relaxation tonight in bed as you wind down to go to sleep.

Finish Remarkable: After you exercise, take some time to reset before you move on to the next part of your day by spending 5-10 minutes in progressive muscle relaxation. It goes particularly well with yoga.
