Dr. Lori Tam, cardiologist and women’s heart wellness medical director for Providence Heart Institute, hosts a conversation each month focused on women's health + wellness. Learn about a variety of topics for living your best, healthiest life and supporting women of all adult ages.
TOPIC: Pregnancy and the Heart - What to know beyond the 9 months
SPEAKER: Lori Tam, M.D.
THIS MONTH’S DESCRIPTION: Most of us are aware that heart disease is the #1 killer of men and women in the United States. However, some of us may not know that for many of the years since the mid 1980s, more women have died from heart disease than men.
Women who experience pregnancy-related conditions such as gestational diabetes, gestational hypertension and preeclampsia are 2 times more likely to develop ischemic heart disease later in life. This provides a significant opportunity for prevention measures and intervention early. Please join us for a discussion on how pregnancy-related conditions impact heart disease risk later in life and learn about important steps to take decrease your cardiac risk.
SCHEDULE: Online, First Tuesday of the month, 5:30-6:30 p.m. PT
