I WILL: CUT THE SODA

The next time you reach for a sugary drink, consider this: cutting out soda can help you lose as much as five pounds, even if that’s the only change you make. Sugary drinks make your blood sugar spike and increase your risk of both heart disease and diabetes. And as it turns out, artificially-sweetened diet drinks aren’t a good alternative, because they cause an insulin reaction that makes you crave other high carbohydrate snacks. So what’s a thirsty person to do? Avoid the crave cycle by drinking unsweetened tea, coffee, seltzer or plain old tap water.

Start small: Stop drinking soft drinks today.

Finish remarkable: Reduce your regular consumption of fruit juice, dairy beverages, and sweetened coffee drinks.
