Notes for Movement-based classes and programs: Basecamp’s movement-based programming welcomes participation across the varying levels of experience. We make best efforts to meet you where you are with fitness level, comfort of mobility, and general interest in a range of movement practices. It’s important to always consult your provider before beginning a new exercise routine. Individual class registration pages may share more with regards to recommended equipment or alternative at-home items to use in lieu of purchased equipment.

  • Each time you register for a movement class or program, you are asked to acknowledge understanding of the following.

It is important to always consult with your primary care provider before beginning a new exercise routine. By participating, you understand that these classes may include exercises that may increase your heart rate and may increase your blood pressure. Your choice to participate certifies that you have no known ailment, disease, or organic condition, which would make your participation in these classes dangerous to your health. Please stop participation in these classes if any changes in your health or physical condition affects your ability to exercise (pregnancy, injury, illness, etc.). Your participation acknowledges that you have consulted with or had the opportunity to consult with your physician concerning your participation in these classes.

  • These categories are intended to be a guide when considering a new movement-based class or program. It is important to always consult with your provider to determine which levels may be best for your abilities.

    • Beginner: Our beginner level allows for more instruction to poses, forms, and movements of the specific class. These are generally a slower pace with time spent practicing and building confidence. Instructors focus on proper form, safety, and modifications. Many of these classes/programs have the ability to accommodate those who aren't comfortable moving between floor and standing, such as a chair-based practice, or for those with limited range of motion. If these modifications are not available, it will be noted.

    • Beginner-Friendly: The beginner-friendly label tends to be paired with our intermediate level when there's more opportunity for modifications, and alternative poses or movements to match a person's range of motion or aerobic fitness level. Portions of the class/program may be challenging to someone brand new to consistent movement or to the style of movement.

    • Intermediate: Our intermediate level classes are nice middle-ground for those seeking a moderate pace but still appreciate time in practice and opportunity for modifications. Instructors build upon the basics by adding flow and function to the blended poses, forms, and movements. These classes typically ask the participant to be able to comfortably and safely move between floor and standing and be comfortable with consistent movement for the duration of the class.

    • Advanced: The advanced level classes offer participants the opportunity to grow in their consistent practice of movement while also welcoming the seasoned individual. Modifications may be more limited and the pace of the class tends to be more challenging where participants may manage more of their own modifications or need for breaks from the faster pace. Participants should be able to comfortably and safely move between floor and standing and be comfortable with consistent movement for the duration of the class.

  • The hub for Basecamp Prevention + Wellness is Portland, Oregon, yet the reach of our programming is worldwide. Most participate through our virtual setting, while those local to Portland have an opportunity to also choose between our two studio locations.

    • West Portland: Located on the campus of Providence St. Vincent Medical Center.

    • East Portland: Located on the campus of Providence Portland Medical Center.

Learn more about our locations, addresses, etc.

  • In the event an instructor is unable to attend a scheduled live-taught class, we will send an email to registered participants. We do our very best to notify participants as quickly as possible.

In-person participants who arrive to a fitness studio and have class concerns, you may call 971.358.1968 to clarify any changes to the schedule that day.

It's important to be aware of our holiday and semi-annual closures as well as inclement weather policy as this also impacts our live taught classes - in-person and virtual.

  • To support our amazing instructors in allowing time away for rest and family, we follow the Providence health system recognized holidays for closures throughout the year. In addition, we conduct two week-long closures for an extended break and deep cleaning of our fitness studios in Portland, OR.

No classes - in-person or virtual - are held on these holidays and during these breaks.

    Semi-Annual Closures:

    • Mid-Year: July 1-7, 2024

    • Year-End: Dec. 23-29, 2024

Holiday Closures: If the holiday falls on a weekend, the closure would be the adjacent business day (i.e., Saturday = Friday, Sunday = Monday).

    • New Year's Day

    • Martin Luther King Jr. Day

    • Memorial Day

    • Independence Day

    • Labor Day

    • Thanksgiving Day and Friday following

    • Christmas Day

  • Please review for our inclement weather policy and procedures.

We follow the local school districts for closures, delayed starts*, and status for after school/evening activities**.

    • East Portland (Body Works) follow Portland Public School District

    • West Portland (The Well) follow Beaverton School District

Reminder: Basecamp’s class hours are 6:00am-7:30pm Pacific Time (PT).

    • Delayed start means classes scheduled during the delay will not be held. A 2-hour delay would cancel 6-8:00am classes.

    • If after school and evening activities are canceled for the school district, our classes between 4-7:30pm PT would be canceled.

    • If weekend activities are canceled by the school district, our weekend classes would also be canceled.

We encourage our Basecamp community to choose their health and safety over attending our in-person classes.
