  • Basecamp is closed during most Federal Holidays, as well as additional time periods during the year for operational efforts. During these closures, online and in-person classes are canceled. If federal holidays fall on a weekend, the adjacent Friday or Monday will be the observed closure date. Exact closure dates will be provided annually to all contractors. Basecamp is closed to observe the following:

    • Martin Luther King Jr. Day

    • Memorial Day

    • Independence Day

    • Week-long closure the week of Independence Day (exact dates provided each year). In 2025, we will be closed June 30-July 7, 2025.

    • Labor Day

    • Thanksgiving Day and Friday following

    • Christmas Day

    • Week-long closure between Christmas and New Year’s (exact dates provided each year). In 2025, we will be closed Dec. 24, 2025-January 2, 2026

    • New Year's Day

  • Please review for our inclement weather policy and procedures. We always encourage our Basecamp community to choose their health and safety over attending our in-person classes.

    • We ask that instructors use their best judgment to determine if they will be able to arrive to class on time. Instructors should promptly notify Basecamp staff if they are unable to travel to their class location. Please refer to the Basecamp Contact List in our Instructor Manual (p1).

    Wintery Weather
We follow the local school districts for closures, delayed starts*, and status for after school/evening activities**.

    • East Portland (Body Works) follow Portland Public School District

    • West Portland (The Well) follow Beaverton School District

Reminder: Basecamp’s class hours are 6:00am-7:30pm Pacific Time (PT).

    • Delayed start means classes scheduled during the delay will not be held. A 2-hour delay would cancel 6-8:00am classes.

    • If after school and evening activities are canceled for the school district, our classes between 4-7:30pm PT would be canceled.

    • If weekend activities are canceled by the school district, our weekend classes would also be canceled.

    • Hybrid classes can continue with an online-only option. We ask that hybrid instructors who can connect from home let us know so we can communicate plans to our participants.

Excessive Heat at Body Works Studio, East Portland
The temperature outside will be reflected inside of Body Works studio. Assume if it is hot outside, the Body Works classroom may be warmer than usual. Keep this in mind as you evaluate your comfort level and safety regarding movement during excessive temperatures. We encourage you to make the choice to attend class with special consideration to your personal health and needs.

    • If you do choose to attend class on a hot day, please bring extra water.

    • We have asked our instructors to evaluate the Body Works classroom environment prior to each class and determine if it is appropriate to move forward. Keep in mind this may be a last-minute determination.

    • During excessive heat warning days, the Basecamp Team may decide to cancel classes at Body Works for the duration of that weather event. You will receive advance notice in this case.
