Poached Pears with Spiced Chocolate Sauce

Ingredients
4 medium ripe pears
¾ c unsweetened apple juice
¼ c dry red wine
2 c of water
2 or 3 cinnamon sticks
2 oz bittersweet chocolate
Pinch of ground cinnamon
Pinch of ground nutmeg
Pinch of ground allspice
Pinch of ground clove
Directions
Peel pears, and core from the bottom. Slice off the bottom if necessary to stand upright.
In a large pot combine apple juice, red wine, cinnamon, and water. Bring to a simmer and add peeled pears. Cook for approximately 15 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
Place chocolate and remaining spices in a microwave safe bowl and heat on high for 1 minute, stirring every 30 seconds. Stir until smooth. On a dessert plate add pear and a couple of tablespoons of poaching liquid to plate. Drizzle chocolate sauce over pears to serve.
