I WILL: Build a Healthy Plate
HAVING BALANCE ISN’T LIMITED TO STEADY FEET.
It applies to your meal plate too! A balanced meal plate is important for optimal heart health. Try following the 1/2, 1/4, 1/4 approach: half your plate is veggies + fruit, one quarter is lean protein, one quarter is grains/starches. Follow these six habits to heart healthy eating: 1) Choose heart healthy fats and oils, 2) Eat more plants, 3) Choose healthy proteins, 4) Limit sodium and sugar intake, 5) Eat more fresh, less processed, and 6) Build a balanced plate.
Start Small: Control your dinner portions by using a smaller plate (8” or less is best).
Finish Remarkable: Think outside the plate! Balance your meals and snacks by using the 1/2, 1/4, 1/4 rule.
