I WILL: Make Healthy Living a Family Affair

Families that play together, stay together. And families that pursue wellness together stay healthier together.

Setting physical fitness, nutrition, and life balance goals as part of improving general wellness as a family unit can improve overall outcomes for all your loved ones. Not only will you encourage good habits, it’s also easier to keep those good habits when everyone is on board and setting goals together.

Start Small: Schedule a weekly date for the family - secure the time by placing it on the family calendar. This can be a fun activity, cooking a meal together, or enjoying time together in nature or away from devices. Find one hour in the week and build from there.

Finish Remarkable: Participate in The FIT Project to create sustainable habits for your entire family. Making the commitment to learning not only impacts your family’s health immediately, but it also sets the foundation for your children’s health practices for years to come. TheFITProject.org.

How can we help? Basecamp offers resources to support your wellness around this topic!
Here’s what’s available…

  • The FIT Project is a great way for families with school aged children to work on building healthy habits together. Throughout our 12-week program families create a wellness plan that focuses on their personal goals. We offer opportunities to stay active, learn about nutrition, practice mindfulness, and gain skills to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Our team of experts includes a certified wellness coach, certified personal trainer, registered dietitian, and a physician medical director.

  • Classes and programs are available, at no cost, to support the preferred movement style for the adults in your family. Check out our virtual, in-person, and on-demand options. There’s something for most everyone, everywhere.

  • Ask the RD: This post shares great, low-cost ideas for healthy snacks the whole family can enjoy!

  • Our Play Smart youth heart screening program is available for adolescents age 12-18. Chances are your child’s heart is healthy, but a small percentage of young people have hidden heart abnormalities that put their lives at risk – especially during physical exertion. Some of these problems cannot be diagnosed by routine well-child exams or sports physicals. Play Smart is one resource to help with a quick, painless cardiac test called an electrocardiogram (ECG); and if needed an echocardiogram.
