Homemade Corn Tortillas

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ c masa harina

  • 1c + 2 Tbsp very warm water

Directions

  1. Slowly pour in warm water while working flour with hands to create a dough. Knead until smooth, about 5 minutes. Dough should be soft but not sticky, like play dough. If needed, add more water or masa harina to achieve the right consistency.

  2. Heat griddle for 3 minutes. Press a walnut size piece of dough into a flat disk and with a tortilla press or rolling pin flatten out

  3. Carefully place tortilla onto griddle set to medium heat.

  4. As soon as edges start to slightly turn up, flip over. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.

  5. Remove tortilla from griddle before it starts to crisp and while still pliable. It’s okay if the center of the tortilla isn’t fully cooked. Transfer to basket with cover.
